Yellowstone.....Bears! Bears! Bears!

We didn't see nearly the amount of buffalo that we saw last week.  We kept looking for that big group with all the baby buffalo but we never found them.

Today was our marathon day to Yellowstone. We were out the door by 10:00am. I was impressed by that. Unfortunately we had been driving for over an hour and Bridger threw up. Fortunately, he made it in a bag. Poor guy! That's miserable! He even had Dramamine but he still got sick. We joked with Bridger that he could only throw up three times because we only had three ziplock bags. Luckily we only went through one bag. This morning when Shantelle said the family prayer, she prayed that we would see a bear. We all chuckled after we said amen. But her prayer was answered because we saw seven bear!!! A couple of the bears were really quick looks.

But our last bear was the best, it was a black mommy bear with a little baby cub! We had just rounded a corner from seeing a quick glance at a grizzly bear laying in a stream when we saw a little crowd up ahead. So we pulled over and parked the truck and walked up to the little crowd. What a surprise...right in front of us was the mommy and baby bear. We were a little too close because we were about 25 yards away. We were able to stay that close for about 10 minutes and then a ranger came and yelled at us to get in our cars. Luckily Matt's parking space was awesome because we still had front row seats of the bears. We stayed and watched the bears for over a half hour. The baby climbed up a big pine tree. It was amazing to watch it climb right up it and climb so high. We couldn't believe that it didn't fall out. We has the biggest smiles on our faces. The kids especially were in heaven!

We saw some elk in Mammoth when we stopped for lunch. We ate at our regular place in the shade. Mom had cooked a roast so we could make sandwiches. Last night we joked with mom that we needed her 24 hour salad. She surprised us and had it in the cooler today. We laughed so hard. I hated it as a kid but I actually liked it today. Matt kept saying "this is so delicious! It's cool and refreshing!" it was a fun lunch. We saw some buffalo but not nearly as many as last week and no baby buffalo. But all the bears made up for it. It was a great day in Yellowstone!

Story time with Grandma

Dad gets out the ice cream every night for a yummy treat.
