Chase's Second Swim Meet

Chase had his second swim meet on July 17th.  His first event was the 50 meter backstroke and he improved his time by 11 seconds!!!  He also swam the 50 meter freestyle and took 5th.  He was supposed to swim the 50 meter butterfly but the events went quicker than I thought and he missed his event by a few seconds.  Oh well!  I couldn't go back and erase time so there was no point in being mad about it.  I'm so proud of Chase for trying.  I think it takes such courage to compete.  He's a strong swimmer that tries so hard!

We were so lucky to have the Richins come down to the swim meet.  Matt was on call and was stuck at the hospital so it was nice to have family support.  Mom and Dad were coming straight from the temple and we didn't know if they were going to make it in time for Chase's first event.  Just as he was lining up to swim, Mom and Dad walked in and were able to see Chase swim.  I pointed them out to Chase just before he swam and he was so excited to see that they made it.  Marilyn came down with Mylissa and her kids.  Shantelle and Aliyah came too.  Robby came when he got off work.  Aliyah loves the water.  She's a little fish.  In between Chase's events, Dad went and picked up pizza for everyone.  Mom had cut up some fruit and everyone brought treats so it was a great dinner.

The one that surprised us all was Caleb.  He loved the water.  I couldn't go swimming because I had to do my job at the meet.  So sweet Marilyn went in and swam with the kids.  Caleb couldn't get enough of the water.  He kicked and giggled.

Cousins are the best.  The kids had so much fun playing together.  Mylissa didn't want to stay very late but she ended up staying late because the kids were having so much swimming.  They are such good friends.  Maddy was so supportive of Chase.  She made sure that he made it to his first two events.  She cheered really loud for him during his swims.  Then afterwards she would run up to him and tell him "good job!!!"  Then a bratty girl stole one of our toys.  Maddy kept bugging her until they got it back.  It was sweet to see how protective she was of Chase.
Cute Julie in her cover up.
