Floating The River

Today was our water day. Dad makes a great tour director because he reserved a boat for us so we could float the river. He also got a couple of inner tubes ready and filled up the cooler with drinks. He takes such good care of us. Matt went to help Dad get everything ready. The rest of us headed in and met Dad and Matt around 2:30. Mom and Marilyn stayed home with Caleb so he could get a good nap. It's hard when they're this little. Dad and I dropped everyone off just below the reservoir and then headed down to the pick up point. Mylissa, Matt, Bridger, Julie, Shantelle, and Chase started off in the boat and then Rob and Maddy were on one tube and Robby and Aliyah were on the other. Rob was trying to push the boat off and then jump on the tube but when he jumped on the tube, it flipped him and Maddy right into the water. It was so funny! He was a good sport about it.

When they arrived at the bottom, I was surprised to see Bridger in a tube all by himsef. Everyone had such big smiles. It took them over an hour to reach the bottom. Matt was definitely ready to be done. So he volunteered to drive the trailer so Dad could go on the river. Mylissa stayed with the other car so I could go. As Dad was trying to get into the boat, he slipped and fell over right into the water. We teased Dad that maybe next time he'll wear his swimming suit. His hand and arm got a little scratched up but luckily Mylissa ran back to her car to get some bandaides. We had a fun time floating down the river. Shan and Aliyah were in one tube and Chase and Maddy were in the other. But the kids switched back and forth between the boat and the tubes. They love the "rapids." They just laugh and laugh when the water splashes on them. About half way through Dad said "I've forgotten how long this river is." We went past a cabin that had a Bailey dog playing out back. It made us miss Bailey. Matt and Mylissa were waiting for us at the bottom. By the time we made it to the bottom it was 6:00 so we decided to call it a day. The kids were starting to get cold so we loaded everything us and headed home. Sweet Mom and Marilyn had a lasagna dinner waiting for us. Everyone was starving so we ate up everything. We joked with Mom that it was the first time in our married life that she's ever run out of food. After we got the kids to bed, we asked Dad and Marilyn if we could skip the news and have a movie night. So we're watching Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. I love the cabin!!!!
