Chase's Spring Soccer Season

Chase tried out and made the high school soccer team.  He started off practicing with the freshman and sophomores.  He was extremely disappointed by that.  That fueled his determination to practice with JV/V.  He worked his guts out.  After a few games, he said "I just need to go out and score a goal! That will help me move up!"  I thought he was reaching for the moon.  Sure enough, the next day he had a game and he scored a goal on a follow through!!!  Of course Matt and I missed it!  Chase was so pumped up about it.  The next week he started practicing with JV/V.  He played most of the JV games and sometimes played a few minutes of varsity.  Sometimes they would pull him and have him play in the freshman/sophomore games.  He got a lot of playing time!  The first few weeks, his right knee was really sore.  He'd come home from every practice and ice it for the rest of the night.  His brace was really bothering him because it kept sliding down.  I reached out to the knee brace guy and after a lot of begging they came through with a new brace for Chase.  (The brace guy was awesome to fight for us!)  The new brace worked a lot better.  Chase still doesn't like to wear a brace but we told him that's the only way he's playing soccer.  It's not worth the risk.

It was a really rough soccer season.  They went in with high hopes of winning state.  Unfortunately, they only won a couple of games.  It was a very humbling and discouraging season.  But we were so proud of Chase for battling back and even playing this season.  He's been through so much to make it this far!

For Chase's birthday, he picked out new soccer cleats.  He chose these fancy Nike cleats.  At first he was asking for $300 cleats.  I just laughed in his face and said "keep dreaming."  He was able to find some for around $100.

It was a super cold soccer season.  The first few games snowed on us.  The rest of the games were either rain or COLD! We only had two games that were super sunny and a hand full of games that were spring like weather.  Because it was so cold, it made it hard for our families to come up and sit in the cold and freeze their pants off.  But Bridger and Tanner were troopers to support Chase in the freezing cold.  Mom and Dad were able to make it to the last JV/varsity game.
