Chase Flag Football

We signed Chase up for co-ed flag football.  We thought it would be like our old town but boy were we wrong!  It was 5th-8th graders combined.  I joked with Tiff that they're aren't a lot of kids doing this and she said "it's because they're all playing real football!"  But luckily one of the coach's son that plays regular football would come and help us out when he could.  Chase missed a couple of games because of soccer.  His coach, Coach T and two of his kids that were on the team ended up being in our ward. (The girl is his daughter.)  He is a super nice guy and was so complimentary with Chase!  When Chase showed up, they would win their games (all except the first one!!!)

The first game was horrible!  Chase's team lost by a lot and the other team's coach was a real jerk and not very honest.  Chase came home so upset and said he wasn't going to play the rest of the season.  I told him that he had committed to this team and that he needed to continue (even though inside I wanted him to quit).  It ended up being a really positive experience because Chase got a lot of experience in leadership because he and another player called the plays.  He got to be quarter back or running back most of the time.  They ended up winning the rest of their games.  They played the first team again and won them!!!  I overheard the coach on the other team say how fast Chase was as he ran the ball down for a touch down.  His son said "Wow! That kid's fast!  You can't teach speed!"  It was an awesome moment!  I was so proud of Chase for sticking it out.

Chase and Bridger's game were played at the park that is close to our house which made it very convenient.  Most of their games were either back to back or at the same time.  Tanner was a trooper to watch their games.
