Bridger's Sunflower

Back in May, Bridger was learning about Spring in school.  One of the things they talked about were seeds.  So they planted a little seed in a little cup and he brought it home.  We watered it and kept it in the kitchen window.  It was a very happy seed because it kept growing.  It finally outgrew the cup so we planted it outside.  During the summer it kept growing and growing.  We quickly learned that it was a ginormous sunflower.  Bridger has LOVED watching it grow!!!!

Soccer Game Fun!

We carried on the tradition and gave Dad, and Marilyn tickets to a Real soccer game for their birthdays. Almost everyone in our family decided to come.   We met at Crown Burger before the game for dinner and free parking.  It was a very exciting game.  Real won!!! Dad spoiled the grandkids and bought popcorn, slushy drinks and cotton candy.  The boys thought that it was so funny that the cotton candy turned their teeth and tongue blue.

Happy 15th Anniversary!

After 15 years of marriage, we finally bought bedroom furniture.  We've been looking for the past several years but never found anything that we loved that was within our budget.  We finally found a set at Ashley furniture.  When we saw it in the store, I didn't think that it was that big.  But when they delivered it and put everything together in our room, the furniture looks massive!!!  We finally exchanged our queen mattress for a king size foam bed.  I feel like the the princess and the pea when I sleep.  It it awesome having all that room!!!!  We decided to get the whole set so now Matt and I have our own dressers.  I even have empty drawers.

To celebrate our 15th anniversary, we got a free gift card to Ruth's Chris so we went to dinner there.  Matt called ahead so they rolled out the red carpet for us.  We ordered the dinner special so it included a yummy dessert with our meal.  Because it was our anniversary they gave us a free dessert too.  So our waiter boxed up our chocolate berry cake to take home and brought us a banana pie.  It was the BEST banana pie I have ever eaten!!!!  Everything was delicious!!!!  Afterwards, we went to see a play at the Desert Star playhouse.  It was a wonderful night out!

Rachael's 36th Birthday!

My sweet swim friends, Beth, Jenn and Sarah, arranged their schedules so we could go kayaking on my birthday.  Before we left, Beth brought out a little piece of carrot cake with a candle in it.  They sang me 'Happy Birthday' and then everyone took a bite.  It was very good carrot cake!!!  We did our usual run on the Provo river.  It was a beautiful day!!!  Sarah even worked it out with Pam to borrow her VW convertible bug.  So we cranked up the music and rode up the canyon in her convertible bug.  It was so much fun!!!! Beth brought her scotty dog, Finn, to float the river with us.  We stopped and had a little picnic at the bottom.  It was so fun to celebrate my birthday with my friends.

We went to the Olive Garden for dinner with the boys.  Afterwards we came back and opened presents and had ice cream cake with Shan and her family.  Matt gave me a very nice stethoscope.  My first one from nursing school is getting a little old.  I love how clear things sound with my new stethoscope!  Matt got me an egg cooker since we've been using Grandma Miller's for years.  He also go me Batman Begins so our Batman trilogy can be complete.  It was such a great day!!!!

First Day of School

Today is the first day of school!!  Bridger is starting first grade.  He is so excited to go to school all day and eat school lunch.  Bridger has Mrs. Halls for his teacher.  He only knows a couple of kids in his class so he's a little nervous about that.  Chase is in 5th grade.  I can't believe that he's old enough to be in 5th grade.  Chase has Mrs. Bautista.  He's very excited because he had her last year for a couple of months while his teacher had a baby.  She seems very energetic! He's happy that he knows several boys in his class.

I took the boys "shoe shopping."  Bridger  wanted "tie" shoes.  He fell in love with some bright neon green tie shoes.  Chase wanted "converse" shoes.  I couldn't talk him into getting gym shoes.  He wanted "cool converse" shoes.

This year, the boys wanted me to walk with them to school.  So Sophie and I went for a little walk. Chase even gave me a hug before he left for his class.  Bridger gave me lots of hugs!!!  I have to admit that I cried a little after Bridger went into his class.  With Chase I did the happy dance when he entered school all day but with Bridger I'm feeling sad because I didn't think that he would be our last.  I'm loosing my little lunch buddy.

Chase's First Overnight Scout Camp

Chase was so excited to go on his first overnight scouting campout.  Dad's were required to come so Matt got to go too.  He could barely hide his enthusiasm.  Matt and Chase headed up to the camp around 4:00 on Friday night.  They stopped by Subway and grabbed some dinner.  They set up their tent at camp Jeremiah Johnson.  Chase was able to earn three weblos requirements.  A few of his friends came too, Easton, Sam C. and Brenden.  They had a great time!  Before they left, I told Matt to take some pictures because I was so excited for Chase to have his first scouting campout.  On the way home, Matt remembered that he didn't take any pictures so he had Chase jump out of the car and quickly take one picture in front of the camp sign.  It made me laugh!!!!

Fun times with Marilyn!!!!

The boys wanted to go to Lagoon one last time before school started.  So I checked with everyone that had passes and only Marilyn could come.  They boys really wanted to go to the water park so I told Marilyn our plan and she said she wanted to come too.  She's such a good sport.  She came in the lazy river with us.  She didn't do the slides because her knees are bad.  We weren't impressed with the slides anyways!  But we still had fun cooling off in the water for a couple of hours.

We decided to go on the Rattle Snake Rapids ride since we were already wet.  Nothing has changed about the ride.  We all got soaking wet!!! Marilyn had changed into dry clothes so she didn't come because she didn't want to get wet.  The boys laughed through the whole ride.  We got dumped on during the water fall.

We decided to go home for a little break after playing in the water.  We went back to moms and ate some lunch and I showered and got all cleaned up.  We went back later in afternoon for several hours.  Marilyn came back with us.  Mom had some things going on so she didn't come until the evening for a couple of hours.  Dad was sick so he didn't come.  Matt unfortunately was stuck at work.  But we still had lots of fun!!!  Marilyn even rode the white roller coaster!!!  That was about her limit.  I went on a couple of big rides but then I got sick so the boys did most of the rides together for the rest of the day.

Even though Bridger loves to go on the big scary rides, he still likes some rides in the kiddy area.  Before we left he asked if he could go on the whale ride.  He was the only one on the ride so the guy left him on for a long time.  I love his smile in this picture!!!  For our last ride of the night, the boys went on a little ferris wheel ride.  Poor Bridger got so sick by the end of the ride.  It was a miracle that he didn't throw up on the ride.  He was so green!!!  Today has been a great day!  We loved spending the time with Marilyn.  She's such a good sport!  I told Marilyn that I'm so glad she's retired because if she was working she wouldn't have been able to come with us.  It's fun to hang out with her! We love her so much!
