Christmas Eve with the A's

The A's came up to our house on Sunday to celebrate Christmas Eve.  We had lots of Papa M pizza.  I didn't know how much to buy so of course I bought too much.  Then we played "CANDY" bingo.  We cut back on prizes so the prizes were a little scarce this year.  Afterwards we decided that we like it with more presents.  But the kids were able to get a few things and were happy with what they got.  Then we opened presents.  Charlene gave everyone her scrapbook pages.  They are such a treasure!  Everyone loved her pages!

I love this picture of everyone pouring over Charlene's pages.

Then we opened up presents.  Jess and Jake gave Chase and Bridger Jazz hats.  They loved them!!  They gave Tanner a cute rock painting kit.  Grandpa and Grandma A gave Bridger and Chase clothes.   They gave Tanner Black Panther.  Mike and Amy gave the older boys money and Tanner a snow decorating kit and then Angie and the girls gave them Xbox and iTunes gift cards.  Everyone is so sweet to spoil our boys.

Christmas Preschool Fun

Tanner has so much fun at preschool.  His teacher Ms. Nicole does so many fun things.  He came home with this darling Santa craft.  Before they got out for winter break, they had a Polar Express party.  Tanner wore his pajamas to school.  He got a golden ticket just like the movie.  They drank hot chocolate and ate M & M cookies while they watched some of the movie.

Bridger's Early Basketball Season

Bridger's basketball team did a B C league on Wednesday nights and a S F league on Saturdays.   The B C league was 5th and 6th graders combined.  It was really tough for us last year but this year we were at the top of the list.

Bridger had one of his best games ever!!!  He got 9 points!  He was on fire.  He made a really big 3 pointer at the beginning of the game.  I've never seen Bridger play so well.  The team was able to pull off a win.  I loved Bridger's big smile at the end of the game.

Bridger's Indoor Soccer

Bridger's soccer team decided to do an indoor soccer league over in L.  They had enough boys on the team to do two teams.  I think they split the teams really evenly.  Bridger was bummed that Bentley wasn't on his team.  Most of the games were in the mornings.  I was worried it was going to overlap with basketball but everything worked out.  He didn't miss a game.  It just made it so we had super busy Saturdays.

The coach would let Bridger play goalie for the second half if they were being blown out of the water.  The most goals ever scored on Bridger were two.  (The other goalies had a lot more).  Bridger seemed to enjoy playing goalie but luckily he likes scoring goals better.  Some of the games were really rough when we played the top teams.  But it was a good experience for the boys.

Bridger's last game was an awesome game to end on because they won 7-3.  Bridger and his friend Micah both got "hat tricks" (3 goals).  Bridger was so happy!!!

Bridger's Appendicitis

When Bridger finished his soccer game on Saturday afternoon, he complained of his stomach hurting.  I didn't really think anything of it because his stomach hurts a lot.  Later that night he mentioned it again but was really unspecific.  So I gave him some Mylanta and his tummy medicine and sent him to bed.  Then Sunday morning, he came upstairs and said "something doesn't feel right.  My tummy hurts."  I gave him some ibuprofen and said we had to get to church.  He didn't mention it again until later that night after a R's family party.  He didn't eat much at the party but he ran around with his cousins.  Monday morning he woke up before school and said "My tummy hurts too bad.  I can't go to school."  I was feeling sick so I told him to go back to bed.  He just lounged around and played video games until we had to go down to Ogden.  While we were at Marilyn's house, he started to feel really sick.  Marilyn told me that he looks really pale and I should probably take him in.  Then I decided that I needed to take him seriously.  So I went in to Bridger and started poking around and asking more specific questions.  He had all the signs for an appendicitis.  Matt was bust at work so I called Layne.  I asked him how Thomas acted when he had his appendicitis.  I told Layne how Bridger was acting and he said that he probably had an appendicitis.  By the time we got home it was 9:30.  Matt had just got home and was exhausted from a long day.  We decided to let Bridger try to sleep and see how he did during the night.  The next morning he woke complaining of the same thing.  His tummy pain seemed to be a little worse.  I called the doctor but they couldn't get him in until the afternoon.  So I called Matt and told him I was taking him to the ER.  The ER got busy just as we got there.  The CBC didn't show an elevated white count.

The physican assistant said we would have to wait awhile for the CT scan but we could do an ultrasound and see if anything shows up that way.  The US tech wouldn't say anything when I asked her is she saw anything.  She just printed off a picture and said "this is scrapbook worthy."  Then the physican assistant walked in a few minutes later and said "sure enough, Bridger is having an appendicitis."  His appendix was very swollen.  Matt was very shocked.  The operating rooms were really busy so Bridger had to wait until around 6:00 to go back.

The ER transferred Bridger to the floor so he could wait in a room and have more privacy.  Matt did the anesthesia.  He was nervous about it.  So he had Layne come in and just be with him incase anything went wrong.  I love how willing Michael and Layne are to help out (Michael was already in an OR room).  Dr. M did the surgery.  Mom and Dad came and helped with the other kids.  They took them home and fixed them some dinner and then went back home around 9:30 (Brandon had a liver biopsy the next day).   Everything went really well with the surgery.   Dr. M said it was definitely an appendicitis.  He said that it looked like it had festered for a few days but luckily we caught it before it ruptured.
Bridger was in a lot of pain postoperatively.  Matt gave him a lot of pain medication but it wasn't working for the should pain that comes from the gas.  It took awhile to get his pain under control.  Everyone took such great care of Bridger.  Finally around 10:30 Bridger was able to keep down some sips of sprite and his pain was doing better so they let us go home.  I had Bridger sleep in Tanner's room.  Luckily he was able to sleep through the night.  He's been so brave!!!  He missed a week of school and went back on Monday.  He's recovered really quickly.

Happy St. Nicholas Day

St. Nicholas found us and left some presents for us.  Tanner got a fun button game, and a sticker book.  I got an electric throw blanket.  Chase was a little puzzled with his gift because he opened it up and at first he thought that he was getting cologne but then he realized that it was his empty bottle of cologne.  There was a note that new cologne would be coming in a couple of days.

St. Nicholas brought Matt the movie "The Incredibles 2."  Bridger got a Corvette Sting Ray model car to build and the Disney Piano book.  Chase also got one of the Jon Schmidt Christmas piano books.
