Christmas Eve with the R's

It was our year to spend Christmas Eve with the R's.  Originally we were going to meet at Mom's but Matt was on call so he was just going to have to be alone while I ran down.  Robby found out and said that they would drive all the way up so Matt wouldn't have to be alone.  It was so sweet of them because that was a lot of driving over the holidays.  We met around 2:00 for an early dinner.  After dinner, Grandma and Grandpa pulled out some nerf ball guns for every grandkid.  They had a major war downstairs.  Even Tanner figured out how to use them.  Then they took turns shooting each other (they had all the dads stand up front or just grandpa and grandma and then had everyone shoot at them).  They were good sports.  The kids loved the activity.

After that, everyone came upstairs and we opened up presents.  Shantelle continue on the tradition and an Island Park book.  She gave one to Mom and Dad, and Marilyn.  Like always, the book is amazing!!  Every year I say "this one is my favorite!"  I'm so grateful she makes a book.  Grandpa and Grandma gave Bridger a BB gun and a target!! He was very surprised and happy!

Grandma and Grandpa gave Chase a good looking black and red flannel shirt.  They gave Tanner a Duplo construction set and a remote control car!!  Everyone was very happy with their gifts.

For Mare's 12th day of Christmas gift, we gave her the movie "The Crown."  We always enjoy doing the 12 days of Christmas with Mares.  She's so appreciative and it just helps us feel the Christmas spirit.  Then the kids opened their December 24th present.....pjs!!  The C girls had matching penguin pjs.  They looks so cute in them.  Shan said it's probably the last year that they will match.

It was definitely a surprise when Caleb and Tanner opened their pjs and saw that they were almost identical.  Mylissa and I hadn't even talked about it.  I was debated between three different ones and went with the Yeti snowboarder.  They have the same pants but their shirts are a little different.  The boys were very happy to have matching pjs.

Everyone started leaving around 7:30 because a storm was coming in.  It took Shantelle almost three hours to get home!  I thought it was really lonely having the boys all sleep in their own rooms.  I told them that we would always sleep together in one room on Christmas Eve night.  I have many great memories of those fun nights.  So I pulled out a sleeping bag to have Tanner sleep on the floor next to Bridger.  But then Bridger said that Tanner could sleep in the bed with him.  So they squished together and shared his twin bed.  They looked so happy snuggled up together.
