Working on our Roof

I got called into work and Matt was out at the house.  So I put Tanner in his snow suit and bundled him up.  As I pulled away, I had to stop and capture the moment because it was so sweet of Matt holding Tanner's hand as they walked towards the house.
We've had a few complications with the roof.  The lumber company built some of the trusses wrong (the deck and the middle).  So we had to wait a couple of days to get the new ones out.  Then Colby fixed some of the other ones that were wrong.  It has continued to snow so the weather is making it very difficult for them to do the roof because of the snow and ice!  Plus our roof is huge so it's taking forever!

It's sure fun to go out to the house every day and look at the progress.  They're working so hard and in very cold conditions!!!  A couple of days they weren't able to work because it was so cold.  Their nail guns froze because it was too cold.

Snow and More Snow!

Over the last couple of weeks, we've had some major snow storms that have dumped on us.  We of the storms dumped about 18 inches in a 24 hour period.  We've had two days of cancelled school and two days with a two hour delayed start.  I like the delayed starts better because the kids don't have to make them up.  But the boys were happy to have some time off from school.  Bridger was excited to play in the snow.  He didn't last for very long because it was really cold outside, like 6*.  One of the mornings, it was -7*!!!  At night it got down to -17*!!! On the second "snow day" we drove into Ogden and a saw the latest Star War movie.  They thought it was going to be a lot of frozen rain but it ended up not being that bad so we made it a party day.

In 18.5 years of marriage, we've never bought a snow blower because living in Happy Valley we didn't get that much snow.  This winter has pushed us over the edge.  When the first storm hit us we broke down and bought a snow blower.  We tried calling every where in town and in the surrounding cities but everyone was sold out.  We called Dad to get his advice on snow blowers but they ended up being our personal shoppers.  Dad said he has a store that he loves in Bountiful that sells lawn movers and snow blowers.  So he went and talked to them and found out what they had available.  Matt talked to the salesman on the phone to ask a couple of questions.  We gave him our credit card number and Dad pick up a snow blower for us.  Matt was first call so I was going to go down and pick it up but Mom and Dad didn't want me driving in my van because it hasn't been handling the snow very well.  (We realized my tires were bald so we put new tires on and my van works much better).  So sweet Mom and Dad drove all the up and delivered the snow blower to us.  They stayed about 20 minutes and then turned around while there was a break in the storm.  It was so kind of them to go to all of that trouble for us!  They're the best!  Matt's been shoveling the snow out at our new house but it's killing his back.  He's been so grateful for the new snow blower.  The first day we had it, he used it like five times.  He said it paid for itself after the first day.

This is a picture of the boys lounging around enjoying their snow day.  They're giving a thumbs up because they were really happy not having school.

Our next door neighbor helps clear our driveway and the cul-de-sac with his four wheeler but we've had so much snow he couldn't pile it any higher.  So another neighbor brought his back hoe over and piled the snow even higher on the pile in the middle of our street.  It's at least 10 feet high.

One of the days I looked out and the trampoline looked like it was going to break because of all of the snow on it.  So Bridger was sweet enough to bundle up and go out and shovel the snow off of the tramp.  It was a really heavy snow so it took him almost an hour to clear it.  He's such a good helper!  Sophie has loved all the snow.  When she goes out back it's up to her belly but out front it's even higher so she has to hop through the snow.  The snow doesn't stop her from playing ball.

Happy Little Guy!

The other day I was downstairs and I realized it was too quiet.  So I went looking for Tanner and I found him in my bathtub!!!  It scared me so bad because he could have drowned. He put the plug in the bathtub, turned on the water and filled the tub up.  Took off all of his clothes and was splashing around.  I walked in with a horrified look on my face and he looked up with the biggest smile on his face.  He was happy as can be splashing around in my big bath tub.  We had a long talk about not taking baths without mommy's help.  Then I hid the plug.

After one of Bridger's basketball games, we went and got donuts.  We picked out maple bars for everyone.  Tanner was so happy with his ginormous donut.
Bridger played legos with Tanner and they built this tall tower.  Tanner kept running into the kitchen and saying "come see my tower!"  He was so happy playing with Bridger.
Tanner loves Sophie!  Sophie will jump up on my bed so then Tanner climbs up and has to lay right next to Sophie.  Then he'll put my blanket over him and Sophie.  The other day he walked past Sophie and patted her and said "your it! Luckily Sophie is so patient with him.
Tanner ate a chocolate cupcake and was loving every minute of it!  He had chocolate everywhere!  But I love the big smile on his face!

Tanner fell asleep in his car seat and I thought he looked so cute I had to capture the moment.  I love his pouty lips and his long eye lashes.  He looks so sweet when he's recharging!

Skiing at CP

With all of the snow we've received lately, I decided to take the boys skiing.  Ardell and Charlene were happy to come up and babysit Tanner so we could go.  Chase had football weight lifting in the morning so we left around 11:00 to go for a half a day.  Matt had to work but he got off work in the afternoon for a couple of hours but then he had to go back in.  At least he saw his parents for a little bit.  So for Martin Luther day we tried a new resort.  It was supposed to open last year but there wasn't enough snow so this is their first official snow season.  It's call Cherry P and it's in Richmond so it took about 45 minutes to get there which was nice.  It's a small resort but it's perfect for the boys to brush up on their skills.  I was worried that the snow would be crusty because it's been a few days since we've had some fresh snow.  But the snow was great!  They have wide trails.  The best part was that it wasn't busy!  I was worried with it being a holiday but we didn't have anything to worry about after all.  We felt like we were there with just a few people.  We never waited more than two minutes to get on the lift!  Bridger said "we found our new Sundance."  We've really missed Sundance so this will be perfect!
This is a view looking down at Cache valley.  You can see the inversion.  It was nice to get out of it for the day.  I was worried that it would be too cold because it was only 17* but we stayed toasty until the last couple of runs.  At one point Chase wanted to take his coat off but I wouldn't let him.  I'm so impressed with how hard the boys work.  After a couple of runs down, Chase was really struggling but he didn't give up.  By the end of the day, he was cruising down the hills.  Bridger is really doing well with his turns.  He's working on parallel turning.

It was a great day skiing!!!

Matt and Chase at the Jazz Game

Matt and Chase went to their Jazz game together.  The Jazz played "The Thunder."  Unfortunately the Jazz lost but Chase and Matt still had a fun time together.  The boys love going with Matt to a game.  Jerry Sloan and John Stockton were at the game so it was fun for them to see them.
