Tanner's T-ball Season

In April, we signed Tanner up for Itty Bitty T-ball.  He's been so excited for it to start!  There's nine kids on the team.  Matt has been so sweet to help the coach because they coach can't get to every game because of his work schedule plus they need two coaches to work with the kids.  Tanner had two games every week on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:00 for an hour during the month of June.  The first 15 minutes, they would work on a baseball skill and then the last 45 minutes they would "play" a game.  Tanner did a great job hitting.  He liked to bat last because you get to run all of the bases.  He also liked playing pitcher and first base.

A couple of times, Chase and Bridger had to help out because Matt was stuck at work.  Tanner would ask every game if his brothers were coming to watch.

Swing Set!!!

I've been wanting a swing set since the moment we moved into our new house.  I loved our swing set in AF.  Matt promised me when we moved that we would get a new one (so he didn't have to take down and move our old one).  The day finally came!!  For Mother's day and Father's day, Matt and I got a new swing set.  It took a few weeks for it to come.  Layne was incredible to come down and help Matt put the swing set together.  Chase helped too but Layne was a life saver.  Matt couldn't have done it without Layne's help.  Chase pointed out that Layne teased Dad while they were building it so it didn't seem so bad.  It's always better to have a friend to pass the time.

Tanner has been so happy with the swing set.  He's played on it every day!  He'll spend hours during the day outside on it.

Happy Father's Day

Matt had an early church meeting but I offered to fix him breakfast before. He laughed and said “are you kidding?” He’s not a breakfast fan. After church, Matt opened his presents. Bridger gave him a couple of nice light weight shirts.  Tanner and Chase gave him some pickle ball rackets. I gave him a pickle ball net. Pickle ball is really bigup here so I thought it would be fun to play in the sports court. (I hope we use it). After our nap time, we headed down to the A’s and had a nice dinner at Mike and Amy’s. Mike barbecued some chicken. It was so nice to sit around and visit with everyone.

I’m grateful for Matt and what a wonderful dad he is to our boys. He laughs with them and teaches them how to work hard. He’s a worthy priesthood holder who loves the Lord. They’re so lucky he’s their dad! We love him so much!

Before we left, I wanted to take a selfie with Dad. I’m so grateful for what an honorable Dad he is. He puts his family first and loves them with all of his heart. He is constantly serving others. I’m grateful he’s my dad!

At first Mom said that we’ll celebrate Father’s day up at the cabin but then I felt like Dad was getting ripped off. So we threw together a Father’s day party on Saturday. Mylissa graciously hosted. The kids loved swimming. It was nice to sit out on their patio and visit and watch the kids swim. Shantelle gave Dad these funky gardening claws.  He was funny when he opened them. He said “what are they?”  When Shantelle explained thatthey help to rake up and gather things, he got it. I gave Dad a gardening bag with tools. He said all of his tools are very old.

Tanner's Upstart Graduation

Tanner qualified last August for Waterford Upstart.  We called it his "computer preschool."  He would work on their program on the computer five days a week for at least 20 minutes.  It was so fun to watch his progress and see him improve.  He learned so much!  He learned most of his letters and their sounds.  By the end of the program, he was working on sight words.  It helped him also with numbers and counting.  They had fun stories and songs to help them learn.  Overall, it was a great program!  I really feel like he's prepared for kindergarten.

Bridger and Tanner's Tonsillectomies

Tanner and Bridger got their tonsils out.  Tanner was scheduled for a few weeks. His tonsil on theleft side touched his uvula and then the right side was pretty close. The doctor said that four is the worst and his left side was a four and the right side was a three. Bridger has chronic sore throats and gets horrible canker sores in his mouth and down his throat. After Tanner’s appointment, Idecided to make one for Bridger.  His appointment was the day before Tanner’s tonsillectomy. The doctor feels like Bridger has PAPFA which is related to the mouth sores. We’re hoping that taking his tonsilsout will help! Bridger also has big divets in his tonsils and the doc said that bacteria gets trappedthere so that’s why he gets chronic tonsillitis. So,the doctor said that he had one cancellation and we could do both surgeries the next day. Insurance approved Bridger right away. The next morning we left our house at 6:15 and checked in at 7:00.

The surgeries went really well. Dr R said that Tanner’s “popped right out” and Bridger’s had one artery that made it a little difficult but nothing too bad.  The surgery center was so good to work with us and schedule the boys back to back. They even put them right next to each other in the recovery room.

The boys did really well.  They were in a lot of pain so we just stayed right on top of their pain medication schedule and they made it more manageable.  Tanner was feeling so well that on Monday night he went to his T ball game.  I gave him some pain medication right before and he did great.  He said that his throat hurt a little but still ran around.  The boys watched lots of movies, took naps every day and played lots of video games.  Bridger had a few friends stop by with treats.  On Wednesday, Bridger and Tanner hit the wall.  Bridger stopped eating and drinking because he said it hurt too bad.  He wouldn't even eat slushy drinks or popsicles.  So by Friday he was really dehydrated.  Of course I had to work so I brought the boys down to Mom's house Thursday night.  Bridger had dark circles under his eyes. I called the doctor's office on Friday and talked to the nurse.  The doctor ordered another round of steroids to help with the inflammation.  He said that maybe if we can get the swelling to go down, maybe that will help.  Luckily on Saturday, Bridger turned the corner and at least started drinking a little.  Tanner has perked up and was playing outside on Saturday.  It's definitely been a rougher recovery for Bridger.  I'm so glad to see the boys doing better!  I'm glad this is behind us!!

Shantelle and her girls sent the boys a sweet care package while they were sick.  They made cute cards for Bridger and Tanner.  They gave Tanner a fun super hero book and then Bridger a "relaxing" coloring book.  They've enjoyed working on those activities while they've been laid up.

Little Red

Jen, Annie and I signed up for Little Red in January.  Jen and Annie talked their other sister Heather into doing the ride with us.  Jen and I trained really hard this spring.  We were able to get some long bike rides in almost every Saturday during April and May.  We built up to riding a 70 miles ride a couple of weeks before the ride.  (I was really impressed with our training.  It was the best that we've done together).  We had so much fun riding Little Red!!!  The weather was perfect!  It was about 75* which was heavenly.  We averaged 15.7 miles and hour which was faster than the previous year (15.1).  We biked the 100 miles!!!  We felt really good the entire ride.  I'm so grateful for Jen's friendship!  She is like a sister to me.  She is one of the most loving and giving people that I know. She has blessed my life in more ways than I can count.  I feel so lucky to be her neighbor again!!  Having Jen's sisters join us made it even better.  They are so fun to be around.  Annie and Heather are neat women!
