Little Red

Ready, get set, Go!!!!  My group of biking friends from AF was selected to bike in the Little Red bike ride in L.  (They have over 6,000 applicants and through a lottery select 3,000).  We were really happy to get into the ride.  My friends from AF were:  Carina, Kristi, (their friend Krista) Michelle, Bethany, Jenn, Sarah, and Pam.  Nicki's plans changed at the last minute and Pam took her spot.  I booked us a hotel to stay in for Friday night.  We met up at a restaurant in Logan for dinner Friday night.  Then Saturday morning we woke up at 5:00 and headed out the door by 6.  We were signed up for the 100 miles so we were at the starting line a little after 7:00.  We stayed together for the first 30 miles but then we started to break into groups.  We met up at lunch and then fell back into our groups as we were riding.  I stayed with Kristi and Carina for the last half and was excited to make my goal of biking the ride under 6 hours.  My total time was 5:36!  I averaged 18 miles an hour.  We were able to keep a good pace.  I was worried that I hadn't trained enough because the longest bike ride I had done was 50 miles.  I felt so blessed because I felt strong the entire ride.  It was a beautiful, but hot day (90 degrees).  At the end there was a soda fountain stop and an ice cream parlor.  I didn't know diet coke could taste so good!!!  It was a great weekend of biking and catching up with friends.  I'm so grateful for their friendships and I hope we can stay in contact!

Chase's End of the School Year Awards

At the end of the school year, Chase's school had an assembly.  Chase was awarded three awards!  He earned the Presidential Educational award for having fantastic grades.  His core teachers Mr. T and Ms. T awarded him "Team Leader" for his core classes.  Then the principal awarded Chase the "principal's award" for having great grades and for also being a leader and being kind to those around him.  The principal said that Chase is a great kid who makes good choices and is kind to everyone around him.  I was so proud of Chase!
