Snowboarding with Chase

Chase and I went snowboarding on January 24, 2011 at Sundance resort. It was a Monday and I let him skip school. Bridger was a little disappointed that he couldn't come. He went to school and then played at a friend's house until we came home. Uncle Mike has been working with Chase for a couple of years now teaching him how to snowboard. He's done an amazing job of teaching him. I was surprised that Chase could board down the mountain all by himself and do great turns. I've only boarded a couple of times and they were a long time ago, so we both signed up for lessons. Luckily it wasn't busy so we both got private lessons for the group lesson price. We took lessons in the morning and then had the afternoon to board together. It was a beautiful day! I really struggled getting off the lift but Chase made it look so easy. He's such a great athlete. We had so much fun until our last run and Chase was too tired. His little legs needed a rest. So that's why he looks so sad in one of the pictures. I had a really embarrassing moment. I couldn't turn fast enough and the back of my board caught on the "slow" sign and I fell completely into the sign. To top it off, the sign was under the lift. So lots of people saw me and cheered for me. Chase was ahead of me so he missed all the fun. I realized today how much work it is to go boarding/skiing with kids. It's a lot of work. It made me appreciate Dad taking us skiing all those years when we were kids. All the buttoning and zipping up, bathroom breaks, lunch breaks, carrying our skis, and then listening to us whine. He was always so patient. When we drove home, I missed Dad even more because I wanted to take a nap while he drove us home. What great memories I have. Thanks Dad!
